The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has ruled out collaborating with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in any political formation.

In a statement on his official X account on Sunday, November 9, ODM Youth League leader Kasmuel McOure noted that Gachagua's political beliefs do not coincide with those of the party, and thus, working together is next to impossible.

Kasmuel said that the ODM youth league will remain steadfast in calling out party members who are trying to persuade others to join forces with Gachagua.

"However progressive a leader may appear, whether within our ranks in ODM or without, they will not convince us to work with Rigathi Gachagua," Kasmuel said.

"We will continue to put pressure on those among us who are sympathetic to his politics, attempting to coax us by claiming it is 'strategic' not to provoke him," he added.

According to Kasmuel, Gachagua's political strategy, which he branded as "backwards", has played a key role in destabilising the country's political ecosystem.

Kasmuel assured that ODM will continue working with President William Ruto's administration through the broad-based government,  in line with the late leader Raila Odinga's wishes.

The party's youth league will also push for more reforms that will guarantee the party's political vibrance, according to Kasmuel.

"We shall remain within the Broad-Based Arrangement where Hon. Raila Odinga left us, and we shall push for all reforms necessary for a more prosperous Kenya within this framework," Kasmuel said.

"Elected members of the ODM Party must meticulously undertake this task while actively involving the youth. We will continue to call out leaders, regardless of their position, who offer us lip service without genuine youth inclusion," he added.

The party shall also not backstep in keeping the government in check, ensuring that the Kenya Kwanza administration honours its agreement with ODM by delivering economic, social, and political empowerment, police reforms, and compensation for victims of police brutality, according to Kasmuel.

"You must work double-time to ensure this is achieved. This is our only condition for continued support as the youth," McOure said.
