Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has broken his silence days after former President Uhuru Kenyatta warned him and other party members against criticising Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Tuesday evening during an interview on TV47, Kioni noted that Uhuru's message during the recent party meeting was a polite reminder of the essence of proper communication within the outfit.

"What the former President meant was our ability to communicate, and now we know that communication should come from one person who is our party spokesperson," Kioni explained.

Kioni revealed the Jubilee Party's intention to hold a retreat starting Thursday this week in a bid to streamline and come up with a proper communication strategy that addresses real issues.

He said that henceforth, the party's communication team would focus on bringing out real issues that affect Kenyans rather than being involved in political exchanges.

"Now we know that communication should come, and the day after tomorrow, we will have a retreat so that we can agree on the way to communicate," Kioni reiterated.

The SG also acknowledged the challenges the party has faced since the 2022 elections, noting that internal wrangles had interfered with its communication strategies.

According to him, there were previous attempts by unnamed individuals to wrongfully take over the party, a situation he said led to the party's communication breakdown.

"Since we completed the 2022 elections, we have been on a journey, and I know the challenges we have been facing in the Jubilee party," Kioni stated.

"Some tried to take over the party illegally, and they are people we all know. What the former President meant was our ability to communicate," he added.

Kioni's response comes hardly five days after his party leader, Uhuru Kenyatta, cautioned him and other party members against political incitements and assaults targeting Gachagua.

Speaking in Murang'a on Friday, November 7, Uhuru expressed his disappointment over what he described as persistent divisive politics from a section of party members.

"And you, Kioni, I want to warn you about what you have been saying on social media, abusing Gachagua and others. I don't want to witness that again. I will not tolerate abuse from others in my party," Uhuru said.

Uhuru, who spoke while attending a Jubilee grassroots meeting, cautioned the party members against abusive politics, urging them to instead express their views respectfully.
