A Tahmeed Bus has been involved in an accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, leaving several injured.
According to reports, one of the passengers has also succumbed to the accident that happened at the McKinnon area in Kinango, Kwale County.
The long-distance bus reportedly overturned, although the circumstances leading to the accident have yet to be revealed as of the time of the publication of this article.
Videos and images obtained by Kenyans.co.ke showed the bus lying on one of its sides, and another one after it had been successfully brought back upright.
According to the Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LoDDCA), which confirmed the accident, this is the second fatal accident involving a Tahmeed Bus in just a week.
"Tahmeed Bus was involved in a road accident at the Mackinnon area in Kwale County with several people injured and one feared dead," LoDDCA reported.
"This marks the second fatal accident involving Tahmeed buses within a week."
On November 9, another Tahmeed bus crashed at the Nyayo Roundabout in Nairobi, leaving one, the conductor, dead on the spot.
It also resulted in several other injuries, as some passengers reportedly sustained injuries to the chest, head, and legs.
Although the official report has yet to be released, preliminary reports suggest that the bus driver may have fallen asleep due to fatigue from a long-distance journey, contributing to the crash.
Away from the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, another accident involving a Tahmeed bus occurred on March 1, 2024, near Mundika High School along the Busia-Kisumu Highway.
The accident was a head-on collision with a fuel tanker, leading to two fatalities and nine serious injuries.
