Kenyan Leaders Mourn The Late Raila Odinga's Sister Beryl Odinga

Leaders across the political divide have eulogized the late Beryl Achieng Odinga, the sister of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who passed away on November 25, 2025, while receiving treatment at a Nairobi Hospital.

The leaders praised the late Prime Minister's sister through messages of condolence shared across their social media platforms.

President William Ruto mourned the late Beryl Odinga as a trailblazer whose distinguished professional journey took her across the African continent. Ruto recognized her as a great intellectual and a pioneering woman who opened doors and lit the path for many career women.

"She made her mark as an exceptional urban planner in Zimbabwe in the 1980s, where her expertise and commitment contributed to transformative urban development." President Ruto eulogized.

 "On my own behalf and that of all Kenyans, I convey heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga on Beryl's passing." Ruto's condolence message read.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka also eulogized Beryl who was his classmate at the University of Nairobi, where they studied law together. Kalonzo reminisced how Beryl was humble, calm, and confident during her campus days.

"Beryl carried herself with calm confidence, humility, and a strong sense of purpose, qualities that defined her throughout herlife. These traits also marked her trailblazing professional journey," Kalonzo eulogized.

In his condolence message, Kalonzo highlighted Beryl Odinga's historical achievement when she became the first Black person to serve as the Town Clerk of Mutare, Zimbabwe's third-largest city.

Senate Speaker Amason Jeffa Kingi condoled with the Odinga family, praying for comfort and fortitude upon the family.

"The death of Beryl Achieng Odinga is a particularly painful occurrence for the Odinga family, coming just weeks after we lost Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga. I pray for God's comfort and fortitude upon the Odinga family at this very difficult moment. May the soul of Beryl Achieng Odinga rest in peace," the Speaker wrote.

Kingi's message was echoed in the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula's condolence message."May the memory of your sister be a source of comfort and inspiration, and may you find strength and peace in this moment of grief," Wetangula condoled.

Other leaders who have sent their condolences to the Odinga family include: ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, CS Ali Hassan Joho, among others.
