The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has moved to charge a woman at the centre of a land dispute for allegedly giving false information to a public officer, in a case that has taken an unexpected turn.
In a statement issued on Tuesday December 16, the DCI confirmed that the suspect will be charged following investigations and advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
According to the DCI, the charges came from an ongoing probe being handled by detectives from the Land Fraud Investigation Unit (LFIU), a probe in which the lady is the complainant in a case involving Karura Investment Limited.
The sleuths allege that the suspect knowingly provided false information to LFIU investigators in an attempt to mislead the inquiry and wrongfully implicate Karura Investment Limited.
“The accused is alleged to have deliberately misled investigators and supplied false details with the intention of obstructing the investigation,” read the DCI presser released on December 16, 2025.
Despite being charged, the suspect did not appear in person at Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, missing the scheduled hearing.
Her lawyers told the court that she was unable to attend the proceedings, having fallen ill earlier in the day.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter and set January 13, 2026, as the new date for plea-taking, marking it as the final adjournment.

The case highlights the gravity of providing false information to a public officer, regardless of whether one is a suspect or a complainant, in line with Kenyan Law.
Consequently, DCI urged members of the public to cooperate fully with investigators and provide truthful information.
Moreover, the case serves as a stern warning that attempts to derail justice will be dealt with decisively.
The charges pressed by the DCI come at a time when detectives from the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) arraigned a suspect in court for allegedly inciting violence and spreading false information online.
