Kenyans across the country have begun receiving Christmas gifts from several Members of Parliament. Some visit the homes of the politicians, while in other cases the politicians visit the residents in churches and social halls with lorries filled with Christmas presents.
Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu gifted residents from the Dagoretti constituency with Christmas gifts on Monday. The senator gifted the residents with flour and cash awards.
Karen Nyamu has shared that she is sharing this Christmas with the Nairobi residents with joy through the gesture.
“Sharing Christmas joy with Nairobi women, one constituency at a time,” Nyamu wrote on her social media platform.
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has also gifted Christmas gifts to residents from his constituency.
Thousands flocked to his home and received sacks full of gifts from their member of parliament, who encouraged them to foster unity across the constituency.
In his speech, the MP revealed that he had organised the mega gift-giving event through a partnership with his friends and also urged Kenyans to embrace sharing in this period.
“You know many people are selfish, and I have many friends; when I ask some of my friends to help organise this gifting event, is that wrong?” Oscar Sudi said.
The thousands of residents also sang Christmas carols together with their Member of Parliament as they wished each other a Merry Christmas.
MP Peter Salasya also opened his gates in Mumias East for his constituents, who camped in numbers at his home, ready to receive Christmas goods from the MP.
The constituents filled his home to its capacity and even forced many others to stay outside Salasya’s gates, queuing as they awaited the Christmas gifts.
Prior to the gifting ceremony, the Member of Parliament had shared a video on his social media platforms showing hundreds of sacks full of food commodities, which he revealed he would gift to his constituents.
