Renowned journalist Julie Gichuru has called on authorities to take action against members of the public propagating inflammatory remarks.
In an emotional video shared on her social media platforms, Ms Gichuru condemned a tweet allegedly suggesting that Kenyans should go the Rwanda way and eliminate members of a certain ethnic community.
Though she failed to reveal the person she was referring to, she asked them to apologise to the country for the hateful remark.
An angry Ms Gichuru expressed that such a simple tweet amounted to an act of terrorism and advocated that the person behind it be held accountable.
"Everybody has a right to their vote. It does not mean it comes down to violence, that is foolishness, it is ignorant, it is primitive. Stop it!" Gichuru scolded.
She further called on the authorities to do their part in stopping the simple acts of "keyboard soldiers" who hide behind social media accounts to promote hateful aspersions.
