NARC Kenya Leader Martha Karua Comments on President Uhuru Kenyatta's Alleged Endorsement of Anne Waiguru for Kirinyaga Governor Seat

Kirinyaga governor hopeful and NARC-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has accused former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru of misleading voters on President Uhuru Kenyatta's preferred candidate.

The former CS, who won the Jubilee nomination to challenge Ms Karua, allegedly told the people of Kirinyaga that President Kenyatta endorsed her for the governor seat.

"There is a candidate who is going round the region telling residents that she is the President's preferred candidate. The President has not endorsed anyone for the gubernatorial seat and she must be ignored," Karua told voters, referring to Ms Waiguru.

The NARC- Kenya leader added that her party had endorsed Uhuru's re-election bid and he had not backed any candidate for any seat.

She spoke during the first political meeting with her running-mate, Kirinyaga Central Member of Parliament Gachoki Gitari, where they formally announced their joint bid.

Mr Gitari described Karua as a fierce politician and pledged to eradicate corruption should the people vote them in.

Karua reiterated the sentiment, adding that anyone who wished to ascend to power must put in the work and not rely on endorsements.

"We shall ensure that corruption is eradicated in order to spur economic growth in the region. Anyone seeking to be elected as a governor must sweat," she stated.
