IG Boinnet Orders Increased Surveillance Following Explosion at Ariana Grande's Concert in Manchester, UK

Kenyan police are on high alert and have increased vigilance across the country following the Monday night horror attacks that have left 22 people dead in Manchester, England.

On Tuesday morning, Inspector General Joseph Boinnet stated that he had ordered the police to step up surveillance across the country following the UK pop concert terror attack.

"I have ordered officers to step up vigilance across the country following the terror attacks in Manchester," Boinnet said.

Additionally, Mr Boinnet urged members of the public to be on the lookout and imploring them to report "anything suspicious".

President Uhuru Kenyatta also stressed that Kenya is totally committed in supporting the fight against extremism.

In his message of support to the British people, President Kenyatta said that Kenya knows what it is like to suffer such a tragedy and vowed to be vigilant in the fight against extremism.

Kenya has suffered deadly terror attacks from the militant group Al Shabaab, with the most severe being the Garrisa University attack where 147 people were killed.
