Umoinner Sacco Matatu Set Ablaze Along Nairobi's Jogoo Road After Hitting Cyclist

Dozens of passengers were on Wednesday evening left reeling in shock after a matatu they were travelling in was torched by irate youth along Jogoo Road, Nairobi.

According to witnesses, the Umoinner Sacco matatu that plies the Umoja - City centre route was set ablaze after it hit and injured a cyclist near Donholm roundabout.

Agitated boda-boda riders, who were at the area, descended on the bus and ordered all the passengers to disembark before setting it ablaze.

The driver who was reportedly overlapping before hitting the pedestrian, fled after the incident as the youth bayed for his blood.

The burnt shell of the bus caused a huge traffic jam along the Outer Ring road.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a driver with the Umoinner disclosed that they were considering paralysing transport on the route to protest the torching of the bus.

Police are investigating the incident.
