5 Administration Police Officers Feared Dead in Fresh Liboi Garissa Attack

Several police officers are feared dead after their vehicle ran over a landmine on Malelei-Kulan road in Liboi, Garissa County.

The Kenya Red Cross on Thursday reported that five officers were feared and several others seriously wounded in the attack.

The attack comes a day after 3 Administration Police officers were also murdered in the same area.

On Wednesday, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet warned of increased Islamist activity in the area, stating that some members of the terrorist group had sneaked into the country and were planning attacks.

In a statement, Boinnet stated that the terror group was behind a series of assaults, including a recent attack in Mandera where a chief had been killed.

The police boss, however, explained that police were on high alert and asked the public to be vigilant and report suspicious people to the police.
