Ford Kenya Warns ODM Against Fielding Candidates in Bungoma County

A new disagreement has emerged between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Ford Kenya which are parties in the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Ford Kenya officials have asked the Orange Party tO keep off Bungoma County and not field candidates in the August General Election.

Bungoma Chairman Wafula Wamunyinyi took issue with a decision by ODM to field a candidate to compete against NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula in the Senate race.

According to the Kanduyi Member of Parliament (MP), the Party had sacrificed the presidential position for ODM leader Raila Odinga, hence other Opposition parties should not field candidates in the County.

“We want ODM not to field its candidates from MCAs to Governor because this is purely a Ford Kenya region and we don’t want to divide votes to give Jubilee an edge over NASA. Let ODM field its candidates in its stronghold areas to stop wrangles,” stated Wamunyinyi.

He added that Ford Kenya would hold a major rally in Bungoma to warn partner parties in the Opposition against presenting aspirants in the area which might give Jubilee a competitive advantage.

However, Bungoma County ODM Secretary Okumu Majimbo dismissed the MP's statement insisting that the Party would field candidates for various posts within the County.

“ODM will field its candidates come rain come sunshine. Ford Kenya cannot dictate to us what to do,” maintained Majimbo.
