Two more candidates in the August 8 Presidential race have thrown in the towel just a day before the deadline for presenting nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The two independent candidates, David Munga and Eliud Muthiora announced their decision during a press conference on Friday.
The aspirants shelved their presidential aspirations and opted to support of former Cooperative Minister Joe Nyagah who is also interested in the country's top job.
At the same conference, Pete Odeng who recently dropped his bid announced that he would also support Nyayah's candidature.
Odeng who was to run on a Restore and Build Kenya Party ticket quit the race due to the high number of aspirants which is now more than 10.
He explained that he opted to direct his support to the former Minister due to his vast experience in corporate, diplomatic and political matters.
The IEBC had cleared 18 independent and party candidates to run for the top job including incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
All presidential contenders are on Sunday expected to present nomination papers and others requirements demanded by the polls body before being given the final go ahead.
Among the requirements, the IEBC had ordered the independent candidates to present a list of 2000 signatures belonging to voters who are not members of any political party.
The order was, however, overruled earlier in the day by the High Court following a case filed by the only female presidential aspirant Nazlin Umar.
