Independent Presidential Aspirant Nazlin Umar Storms KICC's IEBC Centre Demanding Clearance

There was drama on Monday afternoon at the KICC after presidential aspirant Nazlin Umar exchanged words with IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati over her documents during the verification process.

Ms Umar stormed the premises and demanded that the IEBC listens to her grievances claiming that the commission was trying to lock her out of the August 8 polls.

She alleged that her name had been expunged from the voters' register and demanded that she be cleared by the IEBC.

Her assertions were however refuted by Chebukati who called on the presidential hopeful to go back and confirm her details at her polling centre.

Chebukati further urged Ms Umar to get back in line and follow the due process that had been laid out for the verification process by the IEBC.

Speaking to the press, the presidential aspirant further alleged that the commission was out to disenfranchise independent candidates in the August polls.

“I am qualified to be on the ballot, IEBC has no mandate to disqualify me.

“I have not received any documentation that they have rejected my documentation. I compelled them to do it..” said a visibly aggrieved Umar.

She was given until 4 pm to get her paperwork right.
