Starehe Parliamentary Aspirant Boniface Mwangi now risks being arrested after he failed to appear in court to answer to charges levied against him.
Mr Mwangi had been summoned alongside Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria and three other people over the malicious damage of a Sh13 Million perimeter wall owned by a company identified as ENSE Limited.
Prosecutor Hillary Songoyo accused the two of putting hurdles for the court thus derailing the case.
This was after Mwangi's Lawyer Pascal Mbeche called for adjournment of the case hearing on Monday, claiming that Mwangi had travelled to Zimbabwe and Gikaria was unwell.
"It has always been either Mr Mwangi is out of the country or Mr Gikaria being sick. The complainants are becoming impatient with the dragging of the case and we request the court to issue a warrant of arrest against Mr Mwangi," Mr Songoyo stated.
Speaking later on Mwangi affirmed that indeed the prosecutor had requested for a warrant for arrest as an objection for adjournment, however, the request was denied by the Chief Magistrate.
Mwangi and Gikaria are reported to have mobilised a group of youth to damage the wall claiming it was grabbed from Naka Primary School.
Five witnesses who turned up in court on Monday, however, failed to testify.
Chief Magistrate Geoffrey Oduor ordered the case be mentioned on June 29.
Mwangi, who is running on an Ukweli Party Ticket, is seeking to unseat incumbent Starehe Member of Parliament (MP) Maina Kamanda.
He will face off with Jubilee Party's Charles Njagua Kanyi aka Jaguar and ODM Party's Steve Mbogo in the August 8 poll.
