Administration Police (AP) Officer and Blogger Behind Facebook Account Exposing Nairobi Gangsters

New revelations have emerged indicating that a blogger and an Administration Police (AP) officer are the faces behind two Facebook accounts that have been posting information about Nairobi criminal gangs.

The Cyber Crime Unit is now reported to be closing in on the blogger and police officer from Soweto AP camp who have been running the accounts named Hessy Wa Kayole and Hessy Wa Huruma.

It is believed that the AP officer feeds the blogger with details and photos that he then shares on Facebook in a bid to fight crime via social media.

For a long time, it was known that 'Hessy wa Kayole' account was operated by a police officer only and little was known about him.

The two accounts became popular after photos of slain female gangster Claire Njoki Kibia, hailed as 'Nairobi's Prettiest Thug', were posted there.

The accounts are also credited with warning wanted criminals, posting their details and photos of slain police suspects. Some of the suspects whose details were shared through the account were killed soon afterward.

But the real faces behind the accounts have remained unknown until now.

In an exclusive interview with The Star Newspaper, the police officer behind the accounts revealed that he created the accounts as a way of engaging the public on crime.

He revealed that initially, he faced opposition from his colleagues since the idea goes against the police service regulations.

“I faced a lot of opposition from my colleagues from the DCI and Regular Police, but because I was doing nothing wrong, I decided to continue,” he disclosed.

The officer who requested to remain anonymous revealed that he created the accounts in April at a time when there was a lot of pressure from senior police officers to fight crime that had sky-rocketed in the city.
