Former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru Promises to Appoint Martha Karua Village Elder

Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) Anne Waiguru has promised to offer a job to her fierce rival in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race if she gets into office.

Speaking at St Michaels Primary School after getting cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Waiguru promised to make Martha Karua a village elder.

The former CS stated that Karua "is old and should have run for higher office or quit politics altogether."

But all is not lost for the National Rainbow Coalition - Kenya (NARC-Kenya) leader since Waiguru will still give her an opportunity to put her leadership skills to use, should she lose to the former CS.

Waiguru has been battling allegations of corruption with the Public Accounts Committee recommending that she should be barred from holding any public office if found culpable of the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal in which the public lost billions through corruption.

Her job offer to Karua, who previously served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gichugu will, however, have to wait as battle lines are already drawn in the Kirinyaga County gubernatorial race.

The former Gichugu legislator is her key competitor in the race having formed a formidable force with Kirinyaga Central MP Gitari Gachoki who lost to Waiguru in the Jubilee nominations.
