As the political season approaches its peak, violent clashes have been witnessed when supporters of opposing camps come into contact.
In the latest incident, Kibwezi East Member of Parliament (MP) Jessica Mbalu was lucky to escape unhurt after a hostile crowd descended on her, stoning and vandalising the car she was driving in.
The incident happened on Friday when supporters of Jubilee Party's Philip Kaloki met those of Mbalu who will be defending her seat on a Wiper Party ticket.
The convoys traversed Kibwezi as the two leading aspirants celebrated their clearance by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to contest for the parliamentary seat.

However, the celebrations were cut short by the chaos that erupted with supporters of each camp fleeing for safety.
The Ukambani area is perceived to be a National Super Alliance (NASA ) stronghold with Wiper party being the most popular in the region.
Jubilee has attempted to make inroads into the region and has fielded candidates for various elective positions.
In the face of rising political tensions, opinion leaders, religious leaders and both governmental and non-governmental institutions have called for peace during the electioneering period.
