Musalia Mudavadi Reveals Why NASA Insists on Six Piece Voting in Strongholds

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi on Sunday warned that if the six-piece voting strategy being advocated for by Opposition leader Raila Odinga is ignored, this may cause NASA to lose in the upcoming polls.

Speaking after attending the consecration of the new Bondo Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Bishop David Kodia, Mudavadi stated that NASA strongholds should embrace Odinga's six-piece voting.

Mudavadi pointed out that Odinga's calls for the controversial 'six-suit' voting pattern were paramount in their bid to amass a majority in Parliament and the Senate by wrestling seats and votes from other parties in their perceived strongholds.

The ANC Party leader warned that the debate over whether NASA’s strongholds should only vote for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party or independent candidates was derailing the coalition's plan to form a strong government.

"We have total belief in Raila and that is why we even shelved our presidential ambitions to support him and that belief and unity are what we want to see in his backyard. My question for you is that if we have accorded Raila great respect, why not you?" posed Mudavadi.

He revealed that Odinga's presidency would be more effective if he has more members winning elective seats in both National and County levels in the coming General Election.

Mudavadi reiterated that NASA's support base should rally and vote as a bloc in order to oust Jubilee. He said that leaders from Nyanza must be seen to be supporting Raila as a block without stirring controversies over the party primaries.

He noted that other co-principals in the coalition respected and supported Odinga and hence, his calls and decisions should also be accorded the same respect back at home by his supporters.

Mudavadi added that the country had faith in Odinga and as a result, he should get similar support from his stronghold.
