3 Things Shared by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Barack Obama's Daughters - Malia Obama and Ngina Kenyatta

Oceans apart are two daughters, Kenya's Ngina Kenyatta, daughter to President Uhuru Kenyatta, and America's Malia Obama - daughter to former US President Barack Obama.

The two, however, share a number of characteristics that, to many, may seem pages from a novel;

1. Presidents daughters

They are the first daughters of parents who have at one time been presidents and share the same Kenyan heritage despite living worlds apart.

Malia’s father, Barack, was the 44th President of the United States and was succeeded by Donald J Trump.

Ngina’s father Uhuru, is the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya and will be seeking the second term in the August 8 General Election.

Both their mothers have been First Ladies at their countries of origin.

2. Caucasian blood

The ancestry of the two young women can be can be traced back to Europe.

Malia’s father, Barack, was born to a Kenyan father - Barack Hussein Obama Sr - and an American anthropologist Stanley Ann Dunham.

Dunham’s ancestry consists mostly of English ancestry, German, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Swiss, and French ancestry.

Ngina’s mother, Margaret Kenyatta, was born to a Kenyan father - Ephantus Njuguna Gakuo - and a German mother, Magdalena.

3. Grandfathers

Their grandfathers worked together in the 1970’s.

Malia’s grandfather, Obama Sr, worked as a senior government economist under Ngina’s grandfather, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the founding president of Kenya.

Obama Sr reportedly had a fallout with Kenyatta which adversely affected his career before being fired and blacklisted in Kenya.
