Ex-Wife to Jubilee Politician Charles Nyachae in Court for Forgery of Election Documents

The ex-wife of Jubilee politician Charles Nyachae was on Tuesday charged with forging signatures alongside nine other accomplices.

It is alleged that Ms Kaptuiya Cheboiwo, who was eyeing the Baringo Woman Representative seat, forged signatures in order to obtain clearance to contest in the coming elections.

She was arrested on May 31 and disqualified from the race after it emerged that she had not met the requirements set by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The accused was hoping to contest as an independent candidate.

She was represented in court by lawyer Hillary Mwaita with the magistrate directing that she should appear in court on June 15 to take a plea.

The accused was at one time reportedly married to Jubilee politician and former Constitutional Implementation Commission (CIC) Chair Charles Nyachae.

However, the union did not last as the two divorced soon afterwards.

Nyachae, who comes from the famous Nyandusi family that has produced veteran politicians from the Kisii region among them Simeon Nyachae, will be leading Jubilee inroads in the region.

Earlier on, the former CIC boss had expressed interest in the Kisii county gubernatorial race.

His ex-wife was hoping to make an entry into politics before the scandal that could ruin her political career came to light.
