Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba Withdraws Endorsement of Funyula MP Paul Otuoma for Busia Governorship

Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has withdrawn his endorsement for Busia Governor hopeful Dr Paul Otuoma.

Mr Namwamba expressed doubt that the Funyula MP would be able to win the seat from the incumbent Governor Sospeter Ojaamong'

Speaking to The Standard yesterday, Namwamba stated that his party - the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) - would soon make public their choice of candidate for the seat.

Dr Otuoma and the Budalangi MP both resigned from their top positions in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party at the same time.

The Funyula MP had been National Vice Chairman and Namwamba was Secretary General with both citing frustrations as their main reason for resigning. However, Dr Otuoma remained as a member of the party while Namwamba left to join LPK.

Namwamba announced to his supporters that he would endorse Otuoma after he lost the ODM Party nominations and later moved to vie as an independent candidate.

He further suggested that talks were ongoing, led by Busia Senator Amos Wako, to have all other aspirants step down in support of a single candidate to face off with Ojaamong.

The new move, however, overhauls the previous assertions.

Namwamba still maintains that he and the LPK are backing President Uhuru Kenyatta for the Presidency.
