Kaijado Governor David Nkedianye Arraigned In Court After Ignoring Court Order

Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye could be committed to civil jail for failing to honour a court order in an ongoing case.

Nkedianye was summoned on Wednesday to explain why he had failed to appear in court for a case in which he is the defendant.

The governor is accused of hiring goons to cause destruction to public property.

According to the court documents, the Governor is accused of destroying an incinerator belonging to Environmental and Combustion Consultants during a demonstration by residents.

In his defence, the governor stated that he only went to the plant to calm the residents and prevent them from causing destruction.

The case, which was heard by Justice George Odunga, was adjourned until July 27.

Governor Nkedianye has criticized the Jubilee government describing it as the most corrupt regime the country has had since independence.

He was unveiled as a lead campaigner for NASA under Raila Odinga’s team together with Ford-K party leader Moses Wetangula, Lamu Governor Issa Timamy and Narok politician Joseph Tiampati.

Former Olkejuado County Council chairman Tarayia ole Kores on Sunday endorsed Nkedianye's reelection and he will face off with former CS Ole Lenku for the governorship.
