President Uhuru Kenyatta Supports Six-piece Voting System

President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga have for once concurred on the voting system in the August 8 General Election.

Speaking in Trans Nzoia County, President Kenyatta called for a six-piece pattern of voting, an idea that has also been advocated by Odinga.

Kenyatta who has been touring the larger Western region on a vote hunt mission urged residents to vote for all Jubilee Party candidates from the Ward representatives to the President, adding that those who lost in the nominations would be appointed to various positions within the government.

Accompanied by his deputy William Ruto, the Head of State drummed up support for his re-election bid outlining some of Jubilee administration's achievement and their manifesto for the next five years.

The two traversed the county unveiling a couple of goodies while at the same time blasting the Opposition for what they termed as spreading negative politics.

Odinga has in the past supported the six-piece system calling on his party supporters to vote for ODM aspirants rather than politicians who resigned to vie in the August Election as independent candidates.

The idea, however, sparked tension and anger in the Opposition with a number of leaders urging him to let the voters select their preferred candidates rather than be coerced to support particular aspirants.

Earlier in the week, a group of leaders and elders from Bondo constituency rejected the system maintaining that though they would elect the ODM leader for Presidency, they would support independent candidates for other positions.
