High Court Directs IEBC to Allow Wavinya Ndeti to Run in the Machakos Gubernatorial Race

The High Court has suspended a decision by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to bar Machakos Gubernatorial Aspirant Wavinya Ndeti from the race.

Judge George Odunga certified the matter as urgent and directed the IEBC to allow Wavinya to run for the seat, for now, pending determination of her appeal.

Judge Odunga ordered the electoral commission to include her name in the gazette notice on candidates vying in the August polls.

Ms Ndeti had earlier on moved to court after she was barred from the Machakos race on grounds that she was registered under two parties.

Ndeti was accused of being in both the Wiper Party and her former Party Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU).

The IEBC which had earlier cleared Ndeti ruled that her nomination by Wiper was irregular.

The former Kathiani MP will face off with incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua who is vying on a Maendeleo Chap chap ticket.
