NASA Leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Mudavadi Reveal How President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto are Buying Votes

The opposition, National Super Alliance(NASA) has accused the Jubilee administration of using state resources to bribe voters ahead of August elections.

NASA leaders have also urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to investigate Jubilee party leaders over claims that they are buying votes ahead of the August elections and take appropriate action.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been touring the country with goodies for voters and this has angered the opposition, hence the move.

In the latest incident cited by NASA, the president issued Sh470 Million to integrated internally displaced persons in Nyamira county and another Sh358 Million for their counterparts in Kisii County.

While campaigning at the Coast on Friday, NASA leaders led by Raila Odinga questioned the timing of the presidents' decision to issue the millions.

Head of NASA campaign team Musalia Mudavadi stated that the actions by the president and his deputy amounted to voter inducement which is an electoral offence.

“We are calling on the IEBC to look at the issue and take action. Jubilee had four years to address the situation, it is therefore not right for them to use the money to hoodwink the IDPs who suffered inhuman treatment. They should have paid them several years back,” Mudavadi said.

His view was supported by NASA running mate Kalonzo Musyoka who stated that "The President and his deputy are busy using state resources, distributing title deeds and compensating IDPs in Kisii and other counties at this time of electioneering period. They are committing an election offence and IEBC should take action against them.”
