Nyando MP Fred Outa Attacked, Car Shot At Several Times at Funeral of Fomer MP James Miruka Owuor

There was drama at a funeral on Saturday after Nyando MP Fred Outa was attacked by rowdy youth and his vehicle shot at the burial of former MP James Miruka Owuor.

The burial turned chaotic after Outa, who is seeking to replace Senator Anyang Nyong'o, was invited by East Wawidhi MCA Moses Ochele to address the mourners.

When Outa stepped on the dais, rowdy youth surged forward booing and heckling him forcing his security to whisk him away.

Hundreds of mourners who had attended the burial were forced to flee for their lives as the bodyguards fired in the air shielding Outa from the group before police lobbed teargas to quell the chaos.

Accompanied by Kisumu County Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga, Outa recorded a statement at the Kisumu Central Police Station where alleged that some politicians ferried goons to the funeral with the aim of attacking him.

Outa claimed that the intention of the attackers who were allegedly hired by an independent candidate was to kill him.

"We want police to protect all aspirants equally without favoring others, " said Outa.

The legislator accused the police of doing little do protect him from the armed attackers, a position supported by Odinga who called for action against the perpetrators.
