5 Political Battles in The National Super Alliance (NASA) That Could Cost Raila Odinga Victory

As the National Super Alliance gears up in its bid to oust Jubilee from power come August 8, behind the scenes lies an enemy that could cost it the top job.

According to pundits, the tensions within NASA could catapult Jubilee back into power and rack up seats in perceived NASA’s strongholds.

The duels include;

1. Coast

The duel between Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) bigwig and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Senator Hassan Omar, who is running on a Wiper ticket, could offer Jubilee a loophole to garner votes in the vote-rich county.

Already, tensions are rife as the two heavyweights who are in parties crucial to NASA's success battle to pull votes to their side.

2. Ukambani

In Ukambani, the tension between Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama’s supporters could be an entry point for Jubilee who would take advantage of the simmering tension and bad blood between the two leaders.

Their rivalry, according to sources, stretches far beyond the bungled Wiper primaries and could threaten the bonds that hold together the coalition's fight to garner a majority come August,

3. Western

Dr Bonny Khalwale has locked horns in Western for the gubernatorial race with Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of ODM.

Khalwale over the past weeks has in no certain terms asked Raila Odinga- ODMs party leader- to leave candidates in the region to sort each other out at the ballot.

“He should leave us alone to do our politics because we are all supporting his presidential candidature,” said Khalwale.

4. Nairobi

NASA voters in Nairobi are between a rock and a hard place in Makadara where former Mayor George Aladwa and former MP Reuben Ndolo are locked in a tough fight.

The two heavyweights are reportedly unrelenting in their quest and their rivalry transcending to other city constituencies.

In the Woman Rep seat, ODM's Esther Passaris will go head to head with Wiper's Rehab Ndambuki in a battle that could give Jubilee's Rachel Shebesh an easy way out.

5. Nyanza

Nyanza is no different, National Assembly Minority Leader Jakoyo Midiwo, MP Nicholas Gumbo and Woman Representative aspirant Florence Aluodo have fronted a buoyant defence against perceived interference by Odinga and are in support of candidates running against ODM candidates.

The three had asked the ODM leader to concentrate on his presidential campaigns and let the people chose county leaders
