2 police officers died in a car accident and 15 suspects injured while being transported to court on Friday.
The officers died on the spot following an accident involving the Narumoro police station’s land cruiser along the Nyeri-Nanyuki highway on Friday, the Nation reports.
It is alleged that the police vehicle lost control, veering off the road.
According to an eyewitness identified as Anthony Ndegwa, the circumstances surrounding the accident are a mystery since the vehicle was neither speeding nor overtaking.
The suspects and an escort police officer who sustained serious injuries were rushed to the Nanyuki Referral Hospital.
Some of the suspects who sustained minor injuries tried to escape but were caught by the residents and handed over to the police.
The suspects were being transported to a Nanyuki court to face charges related to the ongoing crackdown on illicit brew in central Kenya.
