Salim Lome Hired to Advise NASA Campaign Team

National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga has sought the services of his former employee to advise his communication team.

Salim Lone, who served as ODM's Communication Director during the 2007 General Election, is reportedly expected to fly into the country on Wednesday to join the NASA team.

The Kenyan-born expert who lives in the United States is expected to offer an advisory role to the Opposition as it seeks to bolster its chances of winning the August General Election.

According to Lone, he was delighted to join Odinga's campaign group but clarified that he would not occupy any top position in the NASA Secretariat.

He added that being back in Kenya to boost the Opposition's strategy would offer him an opportunity to be part of the country's history.

“This is a very crucial election for our country because if Jubilee Party is re-elected it will spell trouble for our country. I am not going to be in charge of anything in the Secretariat. I will be making contributions to those areas as adviser and spokesman,” he stated.

This comes just a few days after NASA unveiled its campaign team including politicians and experts led by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.

During the Grand Coalition government, Lone served as a political adviser and spokesman of the former Prime Minister.

He later, in 2010, co-chaired the government team that campaigned for the new Constitution.
