President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto Criticised for Reviving Talk on ICC Cases

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy Wiliam Ruto have been heavily criticised for reviving a debate concerning their cases that were dropped by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Speaking in different forums, a section of Opposition leaders accused Kenyatta and the DP of revisiting the matter to seek sympathy votes ahead of the General Election.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, while launching the party manifesto at its headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi said the President was using the issue to elicit emotions in order to gain political mileage.

“Our opponents are trying to revive strange (ICC) things to seek sympathy. This election is about accountability and why the cost of living has gone through the roof," he noted.

On the other hand, ODM Chairman John Mbadi accused Kenyatta and Ruto of provoking emotions yet the country had already moved on from the matter.

According to Mbadi, the two had resorted TO instilling fear in their supporters by claiming that the Opposition would review the cases if it takes over power.

The same was echoed by Ugunja Member of Parliament who is also ODM Secretary of political affairs, Opiyo Wandayi.

“Jubilee is drowning politically and wants to clutch onto any straw for mere survival. They are desperate to revive their dwindling political fortunes. Kenyans have become wiser and will not be distracted by these diversionary tactics,” asserted Wandayi.

Western region campaign coordinator Khalid Njiraini dismissed claims that NASA was planning to revive the matter since that would create tension in the country.

“We demand an apology from Uhuru and Ruto for lying to Kenyans that it is NASA presidential candidate Raila who took them to The Hague,” he stated.

On Monday, the Jubilee leaders spoke of a plan to resurrect the cases in the event the Opposition outfit wins the August Election.
