Government Launches Investigation Against Raila Odinga Over Alleged Hate Speech

The government has launched a probe against National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga who has been accused of hate speech.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Keriako Tobiko on Saturday confirmed that investigations had begun over Odinga's alleged hate speech.

Tobiko affirmed that his office, that of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were conducting a joint probe.

On Friday, the Jubilee Party wrote to the NCIC calling for investigations over remarks made by the NASA flag bearer during a campaign rally in Kajiado.

At the same time, President Uhuru Kenyatta accused Odinga of inciting Kenyans to violence by advocating for the relocation of some communities.

In a rejoinder, the ODM leader defended his statements saying that he was taken out of context.

Addressing a rally in Meru County, Odinga clarified that he did not call for ejection of anyone from Kajiado region but was just discouraging the residents from selling their land.
