Samuel Abisai, the man who won the Sh256 Million SportPesa jackpot, stunned officials at the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) when he cleared his university loan in a lump sum.
Dressed in a casual shirt, Abisai walked into the HELB offices at Anniversary Towers on Tuesday much to the surprise of the officers, who duly processed his clearance form and handed it to him.
Abisai benefitted from the HELB loan while he was a student at the University of Nairobi.
"I made the decision to pay off the loan as a show of responsibility for the funds I was given while I was in the University and also to enable other deserving students to access helb loans," stated Abisai.
HELB Chief Executive Officer Charles Ringera said the board is committed to recovering outstanding loans.
"We are aggressively sourcing for external funds with various financial institutions, universities, county governments and constituencies in order to empower the dreams of other students," stated Ringera.
For a while now, Abisai has been posting photos of himself on various vacation destinations eliciting varied reactions, some of which have been from Kenyans bashing him for supposedly being a spendthrift.
Last month he dropped a hint that he was expanding his fashion and design business.
