High Court Rules That Ballot Papers Printing to Continue as Scheduled

The High Court has declined to suspend the ballot papers printing awarded to Dubai firm Al Ghurair

Judge George Odunga has ruled that the National Super Alliance (NASA) failed to convince the court that the temporary orders were necessary.

Justice Odunga further directed that the judicial review application by NASA seeking to quash the tender be placed before Chief Justice David Maraga to appoint a three-judge bench to hear and determine the matter.

He noted that the issues raised by NASA were weighty and as such needed to be determined by a panel of three judges.

Judge Odunga also ruled that presidential aspirants Ekuru Aukot, Samuel Waweru, the Jubilee Party and Attorney General Githu Muigai to be enjoined in the proceedings.

He directed respective parties to the proceedings to file their responses to allow the matter be heard on June 27, 2017.

The printing of ballot papers was set to begin today.

The National Super Alliance (NASA) had on Thursday filed a petition seeking orders blocking the printing of the ballot papers on grounds that the Sh2.5 Billion tender awarded to Al Ghurair Printing firm had been flawed.
