Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama Honored in Tanzania After Street is Named After Him

Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama was on Saturday honoured by the Tanzanian government after a street in Dar es Salaam was named after him.

The Mayor for Ubongo municipality Boniface Jacob unveiled Wanyama street that leads to Kinesi stadium.

The Harambee Stars midfielder who is in Tanzania for a holiday thanked the government for the honour and promised to visit again.

"Nitoe shukrani zangu za dhati kwa Mayor na wakaazi wote wa Manispaa ya Ubungo kwa kunikaribisha na kulipatia jina langu barabara ya mtaa wa NHC. Naahidi kurudi tena na Ahsanteni sana kwa ukarimu na makaribisho mlionipa. Asante Tanzania."

Loosely translated to: "I thank the Mayor and residents of Municipality of Ubongo for the warm reception and more so naming a road after me. I promise to come and visit again and I am grateful for the warm reception."

The honour from Tanzania comes barely a week after Wanyama signed a deal with Safaricom and also bagged the OLX  Sports Personality Award
