2 Students Found Seriously Wounded After Lamu Al-Shabaab Attack

Two out of the four pupils who were reported missing after an Al-Shabaab attack at Ota area in Lamu County have been found.

The two were found seriously wounded with broken legs and wounded skull.

The pupils were found following a security operation by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and police officers in the area.

Security officers are yet to find the two other missing students. 

The attack happened on Tuesday evening after a vehicle the pupils were travelling in ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Eight people were reported dead in the incident. Among the eight were four pupils and four police officers.

According to reports, the pupils were heading from Mararani to Kiunga primary school after attending the Eid Ul Fitr celebrations while the officers were on their way to Lamu West.

17 officers were reportedly injured whereas four students were reported missing.
