NASA Aspirants Warn Kalonzo Musyoka Against Campaigning for Wiper Candidates Only

A decision by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to only drum support for Wiper candidates in Ukambani region has angered a section of leaders from NASA affiliate parties.

Speaking at a Kitui hotel, a section of aspirants led by NARC Party's Kitui East Parliamentary aspirant, Milton Mwendwa threatened to quit NASA over Kalonzo's decision to only campaign for Wiper candidates in the region.

The leaders noted that it was unfair for Kalonzo to campaign for Wiper aspirants only, yet he expected them to campaign for NASA.

“If he (Kalonzo) does not stop interfering with county politics, we will have no option but to withdraw our support to NASA,’’ Mwendwa warned.

The aspirants majorly drawn from Chama Cha Uzalendo, NARC, Ford Kenya and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) faulted the proposed six-piece voting system stating that it could not effectively work in the county as there were many affiliate parties whose members support the NASA coalition.

Mr Mwendwa's team made the remarks in response to Kalonzo's announcement earlier this week where he announced that he would only campaign for his Wiper Party nominees for various seats in the region.

Mr Musyoka mentioned that parties' strength after the election would be measured on the basis of parliamentary and county seats and noted that it would be useless to win the Presidential contest with minority seats in the assemblies.

“NASA is going to win this election but I don’t want to be a deputy president without governors and foot soldiers in both county and national assemblies to implement our agenda,” Musyoka highlighted.
