Kalonzo Musyoka to Support Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and not Charity Ngilu

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Monday announced that he would support Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and not former Cabinet Secretary (CS) Charity Ngilu of the Narc Party.

The National Super Alliance (NASA) deputy flag bearer noted that Ngilu should have dissolved her party if she was keen on Ukambani political unity.

Mr Musyoka stated that he would campaign for his Wiper Party nominees for various seats in the region.

“I am happy we are all speaking in one voice as a community, but Wiper needs numbers in national and county assemblies and therefore Ngilu being in a party that is in competition with us must appreciate that,” Musyoka stated.

He further noted that the Narc Party leader should have emulated Machakos County gubernatorial nominee Wavinya Ndeti who dissolved her Chama Cha Uzalendo and joined Wiper.

The former Vice President mentioned that parties' strength after the election would be measured on the basis of parliamentary and county seats and noted that it would be useless to win the Presidential contest with minority seats in the assemblies.

“NASA is going to win this election but I don’t want to be a deputy president without governors and foot soldiers in both county and national assemblies to implement our agenda,” Musyoka highlighted.

The former CS on her part mentioned that she would continue working with the NASA Principals while still pursuing her candidacy for the Kitui governorship.

“I have no problem with Kalonzo’s stand because it is not the gospel truth. He’s trying to market a very unpopular governor and he will be embarrassed at the ballot,” Ngilu highlighted.

Ngilu is seeking to be the next Kitui County Governor and will face off with incumbent Governor Malombe of Wiper and Kitui Senator David Musila who is vying as an independent candidate.
