Bomet Governor Reveals Secret Working Arrangement Between KANU and CCM

National Super Alliance (NASA) principal Isaac Ruto has revealed details of a secret working relationship between Kenya African National Union (KANU) and his Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM).

The Bomet Governor disclosed that the two parties have had a long term working relationship for close to two years.

Ruto stated that although CCM is in NASA while KANU has declared support for Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta, there is still an unwritten working arrangement between the two parties.

He added that his party was keen on this deal that has seen the two parties grow their support base and give Jubilee Party competition and even helped them win elective seats.

“CCM has no problem working with KANU in this election, especially in the South Rift" he noted.

KANU and CCM politicians have been attending rallies in sections of South Rift together, the latest being in Narok on June 9, where Ruto and KANU leader Gideon Moi attended the launch of Narok South parliamentary aspirant Silvester Ntutu.

During the rally, the two leaders expressed their dissatisfaction with the Jubilee administration over different issues.

Some analysts have pointed out that the two party officials could challenge Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid during the 2022 General Election.

The relationship between the two parties was cemented during the Nyangores ward by-election when KANU's Nick Salat teamed up with the Governor to deliver the seat to the CCM candidate.

A working relationship flourished with CCM backing KANU's Paul Sang for the Kericho senatorial seat in which he lost to Jubilee's Aaron Cheruiyot in a tightly contested race.
