Senator Gideon Moi Threatens To Ditch Jubilee in Rally Attended by Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto

Kenya African National Union (KANU) leaders led by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi have threatened to withdraw their support for the Jubilee and support the opposition over insults by the Deputy President (DP) William Ruto.

Speaking during the Manifesto launch of Narok South parliamentary aspirant Silvester Ntutu, Moi disclosed that he can no longer take the insults and threats that the DP has been issuing to KANU aspirants.

“It is disheartening to see elected leaders threatened to the point they cannot express their views, the Deputy President should respect other leaders,” Moi stated.

Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ng'eno and KANU Secretary General Nick Salat reiterated Moi’s words and warned the DP against threatening their candidates.

The KANU leaders also made it clear that they would not support Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022 as they had already made their choice.

"We have decided that our choice for the presidency in 2022 is Gideon Moi, I want to tell this guy to stop dreaming of the seat,” Ng'eno declared.

Moi confirmed that he would meet with the president in person to discuss the deputy president’s conduct before the party makes its next move.

The KANU leaders gave the president an ultimatum of one week to talk to his deputy failure to which they would take unspecified actions.

The rally was also attended by NASA co-principal and Bomet Governor  Isaac Rutto where he assured that the coalition had put measures in place to deal with political threats and vote manipulation.

Jubilee has come under fire in the Rift Valley with a host of influential leaders from the region threatening to support the opposition National Super Alliance.

Yesterday, President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to address Jubilee party supporters in Eldoret town. Sources had disclosed to a local newspaper that rival camps had hired youths to heckle during the rally in Eldoret.
