Raila Odinga Discloses that His Son Fidel Odinga Still Listed as Voter in IEBC Register

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has unveiled yet another proof that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) did a poor job.

Speaking on Radio Maisha Tuesday morning, Odinga disclosed that his son Fidel Odinga was still listed as a voter in the IEBC register.

Fidel, who died on January 4, 2015, more than two years before the commission embarked on the voter register cleaning exercise could be the clearest evidence of the existence of dead Kenyans on the register.

NASA has criticised the IEBC for a shoddy job and claiming that the commission was colluding with the Jubilee administration to rig the coming elections.

In particular, the coalition raised issues with the register after it discovered that dead people who died as long as 20 years ago were still listed as voters.

In the wake of these allegations, a local daily investigated further and established that indeed people who had died were still listed as voters. Among them was slain businessman Jacob Juma who is still listed as a voter in Langata.

NASA also expressed concerns that odd Identification card numbers such as '0' were used to register voters.

The coalition demanded that the Commission makes public the names of those expunged from the list as well as the criteria used.

Last week the IEBC announced that it had wiped out 88,602 dead people from the voters' register after a successful audit by KPMG.

The new revelations are set to hang another storm around the electoral body considering the audit cost the taxpayer Sh1 Billion yet it seems dead people are still listed as voters.
