Jubilee Party Vice-Chairman David Murathe has announced that President Uhuru Kenyatta will not participate in next week's presidential debate.
Mr Murathe noted that Kenyatta will miss the Monday, July 10th debate as the organizers had not consulted with the President's team.
"We are not even aware of the rules of engagement. So let them do it without him," Murathe stated.
He, however, noted that President Kenyatta could answer questions from the public on live TV without being distracted.
"He has many channels through which he can engage Kenyans on various issues and will not be drawn into a shouting match as we witnessed in the Nairobi debate. This is beneath him," Murathe noted.
The Presidential debates are set to be held on July 10 and 24th at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and are scheduled to kick off at 7.30pm.
This year's debate will be different as presidential running mates will also have their own debate on the 17th of July.
