Abduba Dida Rejects 4 GSU Officers Assigned to Him

Presidential Candidate Abduba Dida on Wednesday rejected four General Service Unit (GSU) officers assigned to him by Inspector General of Police (IG) Joseph Boinnet as part of his security detail.

Dida insisted that he must get the 20 security guards he had requested for last month.

The Presidential Aspirant also asked the government to provide vehicles to police officers attached to him to be used during his campaign.

After being turned away, the four GSU officers were forced to return to the police headquarters at Vigilance House to report the matter to their bosses.

Dida’s counterpart Ekuru Aukot had also demanded 15 security officers to guard his running mate, his wife, children, and parents.

Aukot’s request was however denied by the police and he was instead assigned, two officers.

National Super Alliance (NASA) Flag bearer Raila Odinga had also requested for 50 bodyguards as part of his security detail.

Odinga, who already enjoys protection from 16 officers, wanted 34 more and police vehicles, however, Boinnet rejected his request.
