Kalonzo Musyoka Warns NASA Might Lose Seats Over Internal Competition

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned the National Super Alliance (NASA) that it might lose crucial seats over internal competition.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Narok, Kalonzo warned that competition by NASA aspirants for the same position would give undue advantage to Jubilee Party candidates.

Kalonzo stated that candidates vying for the same seat should negotiate so that those with slim winning chances step down to avoid splitting the NASA votes.

The Alliance's presidential running mate cited several areas in the South Rift region where aspirants from ODM and CCM are contesting against a Jubilee candidate.

For instance in Narok, Patrick Ntutu of CCM and Joseph Tiampati (ODM) are running for governorship against incumbent Samuel Tunai of Jubilee Party, a situation Kalonzo claimed could lead to their loss.

"One of our candidates should step down for the other. If they don't, Tunai will beat them and we do not want this to happen," he said.

The Wiper leader called on fellow principals Raila Odinga (ODM) and Isaac Ruto (CCM) to prevail upon some of the weaker contenders to step down.

NASA has been grappling with the same situation in various other regions where leaders have vehemently declined to have a single candidate represent the Alliance.

In Mombasa, ODM's Ali Hassan Joho is competing for governorship against Senator Hassan Omar of Wiper and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who all support NASA.

The same has also been witnessed in the Western region with ODM, ANC and Ford Kenya candidates contesting for same positions.
