Former Interior Minister George Saitoti's Campaign Billions Reported Missing

Five years after former Internal Security Minister George Saitoti passed away, new revelations indicate that Billions he had amassed have mysteriously disappeared.

The missing funds are said to have been saved to facilitate the 2013 presidential campaign since he had declared an interest in the country's top job.

A family source alleged that the funds were secretly transferred to foreign accounts shortly after the death of Prof. Saitoti causing differences to emerge among family members.

"Some people have taken advantage of the differences to apportion themselves part of the wealth behind his widow’s back because she did not have full knowledge of all the property waziri owned," the source was quoted.

Inquiries on the matter have been received with contempt among those who were closely involved in Saitoti's political life.

Saitoti's widow, Margaret Saitoti - a board member at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK) - did not respond to phone calls and text messages sent to her inquiring about the case.

The family lawyer, Fred Ngatia, declined to give his assessment on the matter and any possible inheritance upheavals the family could be involved in.

"Please, that is a very private family, which I presented at the Commission of Inquiry and would therefore not wish to be the one discussing it. Let us leave it at that. Don’t take offence," Ngatia stated.

According to a report by the Standard, Saitoti's brothers Johnson and Ronald Musengi also distanced themselves from the query.

"I don’t want to be drawn into that matter because you have no idea what you are enquiring about. Please do your research properly then come back, maybe we can talk then," Musengi stated.
