Jubilee Cancels All Weekend Campaign Rallies to Honour Former Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery

The Jubilee Party has cancelled all weekend campaign rallies until further notice so as to honour the late Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju made the announcement following the death of Nkaissery who passed on a few hours after being admitted at Karen Hospital.

Earlier on, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto cancelled a tour that was scheduled to begin on Saturday in Turkana County.

The decision was made so as to condole with the nation following the demise of the CS whose long service to the nation has been outstanding.

It is not clear when the Jubilee party will reschedule the tour or when it will resume its campaigns.

Elsewhere Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri cut short his two-day official tour of the Coast region.

Addressing journalists at the Ocean Beach Resort and Spa in Malindi on Saturday morning, Kiunjuri said he could not proceed following the death of his colleague.

"Truly this country has lost a great Kenyan who was dedicated to his duty," Kiunjuri stated.

He recalled how the former Interior CS served with him for 10 years, first as MPs, later as Assistant Minister and now they were together in the same Cabinet.
