Nairobi-bound SGR Train Breaks Down at Kibwezi

A Nairobi-bound Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train on Wednesday caused panic among passengers who were on board after it broke down at Kibwezi.

The train halted at Kibwezi for close to 1 hour as another rescue locomotive was contacted to rescue the situation.

After being fixed, the train is said to have progressed to the Simba Station in Makueni County without any further problems and was expected to arrive safely at Nairobi late in the afternoon.

Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) was not available for comment when contacted by Kenyans.co.ke.

The Sh327 Billion project has experienced several difficulties since it was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in June, with some having been fixed and others yet to be resolved.
