Ignore Rumours of My Death - Leonard Mambo Mbotela

Veteran radio presenter and TV show host Leonard Mambo Mbotela has dismissed reports of his death.

The popular journalist known for his “Je Huu ni Ungwana” confirmed that he was well and asked Kenyans to ignore the rumours circulating on social media.

He stated that he was made aware of the speculations after receiving hundreds of phone calls from friends and his fans about the matter.

"I thank God because I am alive! I am alive! I am alive and strong. I don't know where this rumour originated from or who started it. I have even received calls from DW and BBC... I want to confirm to all my friends and family from within and abroad that I am well," he told a local radio station.

He regretted the reports that caused panic around the country but noted that he had forgiven the origin of the claims.

"I hope that you will all pray that I live longer because whatever you are hearing has not happened. I have forgiven whoever spread the news that I died in a road accident because he doesn't know what he is doing. You hear my voice is still the one. I can confirm that I'm the one speaking," he added.

Reports of his death had caused an online buzz after a popular blogger tweeted that the legend had died on Saturday morning in a grisly road accident.

Though the speculations had not been confirmed, netizens took to Twitter to convey their condolence messages to the veteran presenter.

Some even went ahead to come with a hashtag #RIPMbotela with others describing July as a dark month for the country having already lost four national leaders.
