I Will Concede Defeat If Al Ghurair Doesn't Print Presidential Ballot Papers

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has given two conditions before he concedes defeat if he is beaten in the August General Election.

Odinga has previously been reluctant to admit that he would concede stated that he would only accept a loss if the electronic voter identification devices (EVIDS) function properly and that the disputed Al-Ghurair company doesn't print the presidential ballot papers.

The Opposition leader highlighted this would eliminate the possibility of any foul play and ensure that the polls are fair to all candidates.

“If the EVIDS function properly that will eliminate the possibility of ghost voters and dead voters resurrecting, voting and then going back to their graves. If we can get assurance from IEBC that is not going to be the case and that nobody is going to vote unless they are identified biometrically, then we will accept the results,” he maintained.

He expressed concerns on why the IEBC would not award the ballot printing tender to another company but insists on Al Ghurair which he claims was compromised.

“This company seems to be the only one, according to IEBC, that can print the ballot papers. There is something sinister about this company. Some people ate commissions from this company so that they cannot do away with it,” he stated.

On Thursday, the ODM boss affirmed that he would accept defeat if President Uhuru Kenyatta beats him in a credible election.

"We are sportsmen and we know in every contest there must be a winner and a loser. Therefore, we shall accept defeat if the elections are free and fair. Life does not end with Raila Odinga,” he added.
