NASA Nairobi Woman Rep Aspirants Esther Passaris and Rael Ndambuki in Bitter Exchange of Words

The move by ODM Party's Nairobi Woman Rep candidate Esther Passaris to ask Wiper supporters to vote for her, despite the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party having its own candidate for the seat, has ruffled feathers in NASA.

Ms Passaris, while addressing a Wiper Party meeting in Nairobi, noted that the Kamba community should give other tribes a chance to acquire leadership since they were already represented in top positions.

She argued that the current Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke was a Kamba and as such, her opponent Rahab Ndambuki of Wiper should step down in her favour.

"We are all in NASA and I beg that you give all tribes a chance. If anything we already have a Wiper candidate as deputy Governor of Nairobi. I am a Kikuyu, we must agree to share," she stated.

The renowned business woman stated that if elected she would champion the rights of marginalised women in informal settlements.

Her rival Ms Ndambuki, however, cautioned that NASA was made up of affiliate parties and warned ODM against bullying smaller parties for their own selfish interest.

The Wiper Party nominee stated that she would be on the ballot and will not be intimidated into stepping down.

"NASA is not made up of ODM alone. We are equal partners as Wiper, ANC, Ford-Kenya and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM).

"It is unfair for ODM to allocate itself all top seats in the county. They have the governor, senator Woman Rep yet we are all equal," she stated.

Passaris in a quick rejoinder disagreed with Ndambuki stating that the candidate with the most clout should be supported by the coalition.

Meanwhile, Nairobi NASA supporters Chair, Lawrence Oyugi has warned against such in fighting stating that it could cost them victory and urged their flag bearer Raila Odinga to quickly intervene.

"The situation which exists in Nairobi if ignored could lead to voter apathy in the city in the battle for Woman Rep," Oyugi stated.
